Defintion of Ping and TraceRoute
Ping and TraceRoute are useful utilities for setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting networks. They send packets to other network devices (servers, clients, routers, etc.) and can be used to determine network connectivity (“can I get my data to there from here?”) and performance (“Is there a network bottleneck between there and here?”).
